Friendly, dog lover and bug hunter for fun. Yes, it's true. Software testing is about finding errors. It requires putting yourself in the shoes of the user who uses your product instead of the boss who pays your salary. It requires great powers of observation, trying to think outside the box, and being intuitive. But above all, when my parents and relatives, still familiar with a world where working on your computer is strange, ask me what I do for a living, my answer is always to be empathetic. Why empathetic? Because even though I might sometimes think a solution is brilliant and a great fit for solving a problem, that doesn't necessarily mean it's user-friendly for the people who will use it on a daily basis. Empathetic because telling someone who has been working on their code for weeks that it doesn't work as it should or that it has a minor defect can be easy to say but not easy to hear. People are complex, and recognizing that means always looking for a friendly way to talk to others so they understand that my job might involve finding mistakes in theirs... but at the end of the day we're all on the same team. Finally, to me this job is like being a detective. And the more tools a detective has the better detective he is. That's why in my toolkit are: • For manual testing I use regression tests, functionality tests, UI tests and smoke tests. •Jira as my bug reporter software. • For automated testing I write my tests using Python in Selenium Webdriver. • For API's testing I write my tests using JavaScript in Postman. • Work using branches with GIT/GITHUB under my belt. • Slack as my communication tool. • I follow the AGILE methodology using Scrum to do my work.
